Pilates

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a certain form of exercise, created by Mr. Joseph Pilates since 1926. This form of exercise has a holistic approach in wellbeing. It not only benefits your body, but also your mind. Physically, Pilates helps develop balance, strength, coordination and flexibility. Pilates also helps reduce and prevent injuries, and along with the breathing technique, it improves circulation, blood flow, and lung capacity. Mentally, Pilates assists in the reduction of stress, and aids in relaxation, focus, self-esteem and self-awareness.

Additional information

Sessions are usually a combination of at least three of the four levels, depending on what your goals are and what your body can achieve on the day.

Fundamental

The Fundamental Level consists of basic muscle recruitment exercises with small amplitude movements and easily obtainable end range.

Intermediate

The Intermediate level incorporates a bit more strength, control and larger muscle groups.

Advanced

Advanced Level exercises takes a lot of precision, control and flow. We go through bigger ranges and use more than one muscle group at a time to perform these exercises.

Master

The Master Level, is there for the exceptional participants who are able to perform all previous levels accurately, with precision and without forceful movements. We incorporate these when the body is ready and capable

What do you need?

There are exercises that can be taught on special equipment, but the basic, fundamental and strengthening exercises can be done on the floor using only a mat and your own body’s potential.
